Indian Air Force (IAF) invites application for Selection Test to join as Airmen in Group X Technical Trades or Group Y Non-Technical (Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF Police, IAF Security and Musician) Trades or in both Groups X & Y.

The Selection Test will be held in April - May 2016. All eligible unmarried Male Indian Citizens (citizens of Nepal are also eligible) may apply online for either Group X or Group Y or both Groups X & Y through www.airmenselection.gov.in.

Group X

Recruitment Exams for various Group X Trades are organized as per All India Selection Tests & Recruitment Rally programmes scheduled by Indian Air Force.

Group X Recruitment Test

conducted for Technical Trades (Automobile Fitter, Electronics Fitter, Electrical Fitter, Mechanical System Fitter, Structure Fitter, Propulsion Fitter, Workshop Fitter/Smith, Workshop Fitter/Mechanical and Weapon Fitter) and Non-Technical Trade (Education Instructor).

Group X Technical Trade Exam

Test Paper for Group X Technical Trades generally comprises of questions on English, Physics and Mathematics. Duration of Group X Technical Trades written exam paper is 01 Hour

Group X Education Instructor Trade Exam

Written Exam for Group X Non-Technical (Education Instructor) Trade comprises of two papers:

Paper 1 (Objective Type)

It generally comprises of objective type questions on General English, General Awareness and Current Affairs.

Time - 40 Minutes

Paper 2 (Descriptive Type)

It generally comprises of descriptive type questions to test the language comprehension and power of expression.

Time - 35 Minutes

Group Y

Group Y Recruitment Test

Conducted for Non-Technical Trades (Adm Assistant, Accts Assistant, Medical Assistant, Logistics Assistant, Environmental Support Services Assistant/ ESSA, Ops Assistant, Meteorological Assistant, Ground Training Instructor, IAF Police, IAF Security and Musician) and Technical Trades (Auto Technician and Communication Technician).

Group Y Non-Technical Trade Exam -

Test Paper for Group Y Non-Technical Trades generally comprises of questions on English, Reasoning and General Awareness. Duration of Group Y Non-Technical Trades written exam paper is 45 minutes.

Selection/Recruitment Process

The selection process will consist of Verification of eligibility, Written test, Adaptability test, PFT, Interview & Medical Examination. For Selection, All India Select List (AISL) will be prepared and the inclusion of candidates in the AISL depends upon their performance in the exam. Examination Centres

How To Apply

Eligible and desirous candidates may apply online for IAF Airmen Selection Test April/May 2016 through the website www.airmenselection.gov.in upto 28 November 2015. After submitting the application form online, send colour printout of online application form along with all necessary documents by Ordinary Post so as to reach on or before last date. Separate the address & Bar Code portion from the printout of online application and paste it on front side of a white envelope to send by Ordinary Post.

Eligibility (Airforce)

Age Limit:

Candidates should be born between 01 August 1996 and 30 November 1999 (both days inclusive). Upper age limit on date of enrolment is 21 years.

Educational Qualification:

A candidate must be an unmarried male and have born not earlier than 2nd July 1997 and not later than 1st July 2000.

Candidates must not marry until they complete their full training. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application, though successful will not be selected for training. A candidate who marries during training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the Government.

(C) Educational Qualifications:

1. For Army wing of National Defence Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

2. For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equilvalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply.

(D) Physical Standards

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination as per guidelines given

Candidates are advised to rectify minor defects/ailments in order to speed up finalisation of medical examination conducted at the Military Hospital after being recommended at the SSB. The undermentioned ailments are considered, common minor ailments :

Wax (Ears), Deviated Nasal Septum, Hydrocele/Phimosis, Overweight/Underweight, Under sized Chest, Piles, Gynaecomastia, Tonsillitis, Varicocele

A candidate recommended by the Services Selection Board will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Only those candidates will be admitted to the academy who are declared fit by the Medical Board. The proceedings of the Medical Board are confidential and will not be divulged to anyone. However the candidates declared unfit will be intimated by the President of the Medical Board and the procedure for request for an Appeal Medical Board will also be intimated to the candidate.

Candidates declared unfit during Appeal Medical Board will be intimated about the provision of Review Medical Board.

(a) The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely in interfere with the efficient performance of military duties.

(b) There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or under weight. The candidate should not be overweight or obese.

(c) The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms. (162.5 cms for Air Force)
